Our Name & Philosophy
Why the Name “Platypii”?
Yes—we know the correct plural of platypus is “platypuses.” We spelled it “Platypii” on purpose.
Here’s why:
- The platypus reflects adaptability, uniqueness, and being perfectly suited to your environment.
- The “pi” nods to education and the uniqueness of this mathematical number—a reminder that the value of your leadership is based on how you apply your unique qualities and traits.
- The extra “i” signals plurality—leadership is not singular, it is relational and requires collaboration, culture, and teamwork.
- And yes… it’s spelled wrong for all the right reasons.
It’s our way of saying that authentic leadership doesn’t need to fit into conventional rules and expectations. True leadership is distinctive, adaptive, and deeply personal.

Why The Platypus
Like the platypus, today’s educational leaders must thrive in environments that are complex, unpredictable, and constantly changing. The platypus itself is a creature unlike any other—an unlikely combination of traits that make it uniquely suited to its habitat.
We believe great school leadership works the same way.
The Platypus and You
In a society that is volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, educational leaders need more than a toolkit of strategies. You need to evolve—not just in what you do, but in who you are as a leader.
That means:
- Adapting to your environment while staying grounded in your values.
- Developing new capacities for complexity, conflict, and change.
- Evolving your identity, role, and way of Being so you can lead with authenticity and impact.
There is no “one size fits all” template for leadership. Real leadership is personal, contextual, and deeply human.
Our Philosophy: Leadership as an Inner Journey
We see leadership development as a transformational process of inner work—growing self-awareness, challenging assumptions, and consciously evolving over time.
Rather than squeezing leaders into a cookie-cutter mould, we help you become more fully you—a leader whose presence, decisions, and actions are aligned with their authentic self and suited to the conditions they face.
